Covid 19 Update Monday 23rd March 2020
Dear Parents, whānau and Students
The Alert Level has now been raised to Level 3, with Level 4 Pending. The Prime Minister has closed all schools effective as of Tuesday 24 March, except for the children of parents of essential services. School will be closed for all as Wednesday 25 March.
We are being advised that this will be for a period of up to four weeks.
For us all our first priority is to support our families to keep safe.
Thank you again for all your efforts to support us in preparing for online learning. We appreciate these are challenging times. We are working through how learning is going to look and again we will all need to work together.
No After Hours Use
We are also advising our school community that after hours, students are not allowed on our school grounds due to health and safety and cleaning requirements. We thank you for your support with this.
Drop Box
Drop Box for hard copy assignment work - there will be a Drop Box in the front office foyer for any senior work that needs to be submitted in this way. The Drop Box will be available between 9am and 4.30pm.
General Expectations - for Junior Classes (Year 9 and Year 10)
- We are asking our staff to put their health and their family first
- We have asked the staff to put their day’s work up online
- Google Classrooms will be used for sharing learning activities, all work will be put on there
- There will be a minimum of one learning event per week:
- A source of content/stimulus (screencast, video, podcast, article etc) then two activities to support/expand on this.
- Teachers may be available once a week to meet up with their class on Zoom, or through Google Classroom
- All communication should be through school channels. Please do not contact staff through their personal phone numbers or facebook messenger.
General Expectations - for senior classes
- We are asking our staff to put their health and their family first.
- We have asked the staff to put their day’s work up online
- Google Classrooms will be used for sharing learning activities, all work will be put on there.
- There will be one/two learning events per week
- A source of content/stimulus (screencast, video, podcast, article etc) then two activities to support/expand on this.
OR
- The students will continue to work on assessments if the nature of individual NCEA assessments allows students to progress the work at home.
- Individual teachers will liaise with the students in their classes about available times to either live feed a talk or answer general questions.
- All communication should be through school channels, please do not contact staff through their personal phone numbers or facebook messenger.
SMART Day
- Google Classroom for all Smart Day groups will be updated every Thursday.
- Google Classrooms will be used for sharing learning activities. All work will be put on there.
