Welfare and Homestays
Welfare and Homestays - International - Te Aroha College
Te Aroha College accepts students living with their natural parents or extended family members or in a homestay organised and approved by the school. Students complete a Student Profile form prior to their arrival in New Zealand to assist the International Dean in finding a suitable family. Our International Dean maintains close contact with each student, monitoring progress and ensuring that students are well supported.
Homestay accommodation is:
- good quality housing
- usually with a 10 km radius of the school.
- students walk, bike or take a bus to school.
- New Zealand homes are usually stand alone with a garden and lawns.
- Students will have their own bedroom.
Te Aroha College has agreed to observe and be bound by the "Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students" published by the Ministry of Education.
Copies of the Code are available from the Ministry of Education Web site at www.minedu.govt.nz
